Showcasing our Multi Purpose Bread Mix
Wholesome and satisfying breakfast, lightly spiced with cinnamon and vanilla. Leave it to soak overnight and its ready to go in the morning. This mix will create a grain free, gluten free, Paleo combination of overnight oats, chia gel, Acai bowls and good old fruity porridge.
This is another reason I can't go without this product. It's been a staple in our house for the last 5 years and that's why we had to share it with you. There's always a jar of this mix in the pantry and when I run out it only takes 5-10 minutes to do up a new batch. I've added nuts to this recipe but if you're nut intolerant then you'll have to leave them out. To make up for it add 1/2 cup each of sunflower seeds and pepitas.
The Bircher Muesli mix can be added to any mixture of fruits, yoghurt or milk. It's then up to you to get adventurous by adding little extras such as goji berries, dried mulberries, raisins, prunes, dates, sultanas and cranberries. Other add-ins include healthy fats from hemps seeds, sesame seeds, coconut and avocado. Drizzle with maple syrup, raw honey for it's therapeutic properties or rice syrup if you wish to keep it fructose free. To do this you'll need to omit the dried fruits in the mixture. A little bit is ok according to research, it's just that we tend to over do it. When you consider that your only having half a cup of the mix your not going to get too much of the dried fruit anyway.
Fresh fruits include the all time favourite Bananas for their sweet and creamy texture as well as a good hit of potassium, berries for antioxidants and apples for their malic acid said to be great for the liver. Add extra cinnamon as it will help to keep insulin levels down and the coconut will rev up your metabolism. I know it all sounds crazy but this is proof that whole foods are really the answer to our nutritional needs and good health. Too many people look at them as calories, fats and carbs which have all unfortunately been demonised over the years instead of the healthy abundance of macronutrients and phytochemicals that they are and supply our bodies with.
So, next time you tuck into a bowl of goodness, take heart that you're doing yourself a favour and enjoy. A healthy mind results in a healthy body, and who knows, maybe even better absorption of all that goodness.
Enjoy :-)
PS This only applies to 'wholefoods' ei, not processed and preserved to within an inch of it's life ;-)
